The next step on our conversion journey: Carpeting the doors & walls. This changes the look and feel of the interior, taking it to a whole new level. The warm and cosy feeling has truly been achieved and we can now see our future ‘home on wheels’ finally take shape. It is so important to make sure this is done correctly. You’ll find that if you are using your camper frequently or plan live in it full time (like us), every minor seem or abnormal cut will get on your nerves as you can’t forget how often you will find your eyes wandering to them (this may just be me 😂). The next chapter begins in the van conversion process, time to hide all that reflective vapour wrap that’s made our “soon to be home” look like a spaceship for far too long! In this instalment we will measure, cut and install a sheet of 9mm plywood to the left side of the van which will eventually be carpeted over. All the wall space that won’t be covered by wooden cladding will be ready to carpet. We installed our tongue and groove board which is the backing to our kitchen! Time for WOOD! Well.. plywood (slightly less exciting) but 100% necessary! In this week's episode, we insulated the floor of our van with the "DODO MAT DEADN DUO ROLL" and custom cut and fit our 12mm plywood flooring. Both serve no cosmetic purpose to the van and will be hidden, BUT is entirely necessary to the build process!
