Lost
Lake District, England
As landscape photographers, we often chase the shot, hiking for hours, waiting on light, battling the elements. But every now and then, a frame finds us.
While walking through the hills of the Lake District, this bare tree revealed itself, isolated, almost ghostly, surrounded by the rich, turning colours of autumn. It was an easy composition, calling out for a square crop and a moment of pause.
This image can be interpreted in many ways. Perhaps it speaks to the courage of standing out from the crowd. Or, on the flip side, the quiet ache of isolation even among company, a lone soul, slowly fading.
I think I leaned into the latter. And so, I named it Lost.
