An early morning exploration had me stumbling across this canal surrounded by so much character and colour! I feel like colour is so important in how it can change the mood of an image. ‘Passage’ in particular is very satisfying to break down as the old architectural buildings surrounding the canal all complement each other. You will notice how all the primary colours, yellow, red, and blue, are all so vibrant and prominent to bring the still together. I love how your eye naturally is drawn to the only green building that shows age in the paint and water stains. Whereas ironically, the warmer toned buildings that seem to be older in the architectural design, show a lot less age and have been beautifully maintained. I took the opportunity to take out my 10-stop filter and create a 5-minute exposure that connotes a passage in time as the water is blended and still. I wanted to represent and highlight how important it is to admire every little detail, the history and how extraordinary cities change over time.
