Wildflower Witness
Snowdonia, Wales
Set a little apart from the rest, this coo stood in a pocket of stillness, one side wrapped in the shadow of the forest and the other softened by a scatter of wildflowers swaying in the breeze. Just minutes earlier, chaos had spilled across the road. We were alerted to the coo's presence as it darted past, hooves thundering in a blur of movement, so we chased.
Now, it was the complete opposite, a frozen moment of calm. Its presence felt almost ceremonial, like a quiet witness to the turning of seasons, the shifting of clouds, the slow rhythm of the land. Perhaps that is the magic of photography: you can spend hours chasing a scene, only to find that the moment you stop running is the one that stays with you.
